What defines a Spa Hotel exactly? Quite simply it is a hotel with on-site spa facilities which will include all or some of the following items. Indoor Swimming Pool, Spa Pool, Whirlpool, Sauna and Steam Rooms and maybe a Gym; treatment Rooms for Massage, Facial, Body Brush, Manicure and Pedicure, or Exfoliation. The beauty of staying at spa hotels in Brighton is that you can get your pampering, revitalising and rebalancing treatment to restore you mind body and soul…and then not have to go anywhere afterwards except upstairs to your quiet and luxurious room to cocoon yourself away from the world for a few hours of further relaxation. Then of course you can enjoy the convenience and cleanliness of an en-suite hotel bathroom, you have to admit there is nothing that beats a great hotel bathroom, all that endless hot water for hours, long power showers and if you’re lucky even a mirror that doesn’t steam up no matter how long you’re in the shower!

The impact of the influence of the Prince Regent who spent a great deal of time in Brighton in the late seventeen hundred’s was that the regular activities in which a royal personage was engaged, were introduced to Brighton. The nobility and wealthy followed the lead of his royal highness, as a result many activities were established such as horse riding and horse and greyhound racing, bathing, theatre, concerts, entertainments, pleasure gardens and restaurants. Of course in those days there were no spa hotels in Brighton. From these early beginnings many other recreational activities have grown until there are a mind boggling number of events and activities going on throughout the year in Brighton. What is commonly held to be the world’s oldest motor race is held in September on Madeira Drive where they road was originally constructed for speed trials.
